Transforming complex medical information into a clear, human-centered experience.

Challenge

Krystexxa, a prescription infusion treatment for uncontrolled gout, needed to simplify how patients and healthcare providers accessed key information about the infusion process. Existing pages were text-heavy and scattered across multiple locations, making it difficult for users to find what they needed when it mattered most.

Objective

Create a unified, intuitive microsite that consolidated all infusion-related education, preparation, and support materials. The experience needed to feel approachable, easy to navigate, and fully aligned with Horizon Therapeutics’ brand and accessibility standards.

Process

I started with a full content audit and UX flow mapping to identify which details were essential to each audience — patients and HCPs. From there, I explored five layout directions, testing content structure and visual hierarchy before refining the final solution.

I partnered closely with development to ensure design system alignment and efficient build scalability, reducing custom code while maintaining design integrity.

Key UX decisions

  • 4-stage structure: Learn → Prepare → Experience → Continue, guiding patients step-by-step through treatment.

  • Chapter-Based Video Player: Hover timestamps for easy navigation and context.

  • Downloadable Email + PDF Templates: For patients to revisit and share instructions.

  • Color-Coded Sections & Iconography: Enhancing scanability and reducing cognitive load.

outcome

The redesign transformed a dense, fragmented experience into a clear, guided journey—helping patients feel informed and supported at every stage. Both patient and HCP flows became more consistent, accessible, and intuitive.

The site was approved for launch but paused following Horizon’s acquisition and brand transition.

reflection

This project reflects my ability to translate complex, regulated healthcare content into intuitive, emotionally intelligent experiences. It reinforced my belief that clarity and empathy can coexist—even in the most technical, compliance-driven environments.
