Breathing purpose into an unused space
Once a rarely used formal sitting room defined by deep red walls and heavy furniture, this space felt more decorative than livable. The goal was to completely reimagine its function and atmosphere—transforming it into a refined home office with a purpose-driven layout that supports focus, productivity, and everyday ease.
Design Approach
Designed custom built-ins with sleek push-to-open doors for a clean, modern aesthetic and seamless storage.
Integrated two-tier cabinet sections to discreetly conceal printers and daily-use items, keeping the visual field clean and uncluttered.
Finished the built-ins in deep navy to ground the space and add contrast, balanced with white accents and greenery for brightness and cohesion.
Installed French doors to elevate the entryway, introduce natural light, and create a subtle visual separation for work calls without sacrificing aesthetics.
The Outcome
The room now feels grounded, sophisticated, and intentionally lived in — a focused environment that blends modern elegance with everyday practicality. While French doors don’t fully close off sound, they offer visual privacy and a stronger sense of space during work calls, adding both presence and intention to the main floor.
With multiple living areas already on the first level and the previous upstairs office repurposed as a guest or playroom, this transformation introduced a more functional use of square footage. The new office is now conveniently located, used daily for work-from-home, and fully aligned with the lifestyle and rhythm of the home.
